I usually take the Digest Gold only when I'm going to eat something I consider "challenging" - higher in fat than ideal, unfamiliar ot troublesome veggies, etc. I especially like to take them before restaurant meals, particularly if it's a new place or I'm trying a new dish. I don't take them routinely, unless I'm under a lot of stress or having a flare-up. I'm not sure either about how the Digest Gold potency compares to PD. I'm not sure they're entirely comparable, since my impression is that digestive enzymes and probiotics do fairly different things, even if they share some ingredients. Also, when I do take Digest Gold, I still take the PD, although I usually take the DG at the beginning of the meal and the PD at the end. Before I started PD, I took Powerdophilus, made by Country Life. It's not nearly as strong, but it is pretty good. Powerdophilus needs refrigeration.
