Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post. I have IBS-D, doctors have done nothing, and it's frustrating and I feel like it's taking over my life! It's hard enough trying to work/go to school or even just go out with friends. I don't know what to eat anymore because I get bad cramps followed by D, and if I eat lots of carbs to stop D then I get lots of gas and bloating! My question is: if you have IBS-D and eating lots of carbs stops D, but causes lots of gas, what the heck are you supposed to eat then? I am clueless on what I should eat for fear that I will end up having problems. Most of the "safe" foods suggested on this site are carby. I don't work full-time because of this problem (I want to work more though), and I plan on going back to school in january and I'm so afraid. I do take caltrate which helps with D, but I still get lots of gas from...everything. Fennel tea is good, but you can't carry around a kettle to boil water when you're out!! Any help/suggestions would be appreciated, on what kinds of non-carb foods you eat that don't hurt you or cause gas.
