Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I've learned a lot from reading this web page! Thanks Heather! And thanks for the boards. But I still haven't benefitted too much from my new knowledge, as I'm in one of those die hard cycles of IBS. I've been under a lot of stress and so no amount of good food choices and tea is doing the trick - i just have to wait it out. I don't want to take fiber supplements, because I think we can get the fiber we need from diet alone. Here's a problem: I have a compulsive (and obsessive) eating disorder. So, 1. No amount of sickness can suppress my apetite - I keep right along eating, and 2. I'll have an occasional monstor eating binge that will set me back all I've progressed (and then I'm just about on my death bed). Positives: I've never been big on meat, so I was essentially vegetarian to start with. I've learned the hard way that I should do without dairy, and so following the IBS diet is easy. No problem eliminating that stuff. All goes well (eating frequent and small meals throughout the day) until I go on one of my blitzes. Any reactions to my dilemma might help me. It's good to get the outside perspective. Thanks guys!
