Peppermint tea and reflux

Hi!

I've had problems with heartburn occasionally since my IBS-D got bad about a year ago. However I have been able to drink peppermint tea without problems although I have only had it once a day typically. Though now I did the BTC diet and had peppermint tea twice yesterday. It was fine. But then when I had it today after having eaten my SFS and two toasts with mashed banana it suddenly started burning in my chest and then I actually burped up a tiny bit of the tea. Does this mean I shouldn't drink peppermint tea? It's really bad if I can't since it seems to be working for the bowels. The burning feeling was only intense for a minute or so and then decreased. Could it be that I take the tea better when I've had more food before it, i.e. if I for example have it in the afternoon after having breakfast, lunch and a snack, rather than if I have it with breakfast?
