I'm like you, need something sweet after a meal. For me lately it's soy ice cream or a fruit-juice popsicle, or fresh fruit. I'm not sure if these would be triggers for you, but what about a couple of dried figs (I think they help me with C), or warm applesauce, or soy vanilla yoghurt with some berries in it...or, with even less sugar, a really nice herbal tea with some sweetness to it, like vanilla roiboos, decaf chai, or ginger/lemon/honey... Or you could do what they always tell you in women's magazines - brush your teeth right after dinner, then distract yourself by calling a friend, reorganizing your cutlery drawer, etc...
