The diet is worth the effort you put into it. I go through bouts on stability and bouts of bad times too. (Usually after I cheat on the diet!) The diet has helped me get back on the road to stability yet again. (14 years with ibs). My husband too eats most of what I do, but I do make him beef and pork that I can't tolerate. If you are really unstable start with "What to eat when you can't eat anything" it is a great way to start off on the diet. Believe me, stress is a huge factor for a lot people with IBS. I almost ended up taking stress leave from work to get stable in Feb / March this year. There are a lot of great posts about the diet here on the board and lots of information to be had.
