My sister had this sensation for many months a couple years ago and went through tons of tests and elimination diets to find the cause. I don't recall now what actually fixed the problem but I'll talk to her as soon as I can (she lives out of town) and get back to you. She ended up with the nickname "itchy butt" (but the itching was up inside her colon) which must have cheered her up! NOT! Hope someone else has an answer for you before I find out more information from my sister.
