Get a new doctor!       07/10/06 08:08 PM Edit Reply Quote AmandaM Reged: 10/05/05 Posts: 488 I think most everyone on here would agree from personal experience, that if your current doctor is not doing his/her best to rule out other causes before arriving at an IBS diagnosis, then you should find someone who will. IBS is only an acceptable diagnosis once all other possible causes are ruled out. This usually involves blood testing, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, to name a few of the tests. I do think it's a good thing you're modifying your diet and taking fiber in the meantime as it can't hurt, but you really need to make sure what you are suffering from is IBS and not something else before you settle on that as being the problem. Find a good GI. Perhaps let us know where you live and there might be another board member who can make suggestions as to good doctors in your area! Print     Remind Me     Notify Moderator
