Hello everyone. I've been reading up on things here for the past week and doing many searches on the forum. I understand that an IBS disgnosis comes from ruling out everything else. I haven't been to a GI specialist yet, but probably will soon. I seem to have the symptoms of IBS-C and the doctor I saw on Wednesday of this past week also thought that I probably have IBS.
I've been having "stomach problems" for atleast a year now (I'm currently 21 yrs. old). It's really a gas and bloating problem which sometimes makes me nauseous. For the past 3 years I've been doing the Zone diet and have lost around 50-60 lbs., but I now wonder if what I have been eating on the Zone diet is what has been causing my "stomach problems".
Thursday night I order the Peppermint Tummy Caps and am still awaiting their arrival. On Friday I ate entirely IBS safe foods as listed on the cheat sheet. Unlike Thursday, I was able to make it through my entire day of work on Friday. It really seems to have helped my stomach. But now on Saturday and today (Sunday), I have felt really weak and a little dizzy. Could this be because of a lack of protein that my body was use to?
All I've been eating the past few days is oatmeal (made w/soy milk), french break (w/jam), pasta, baked potatos, and rice cereal (w/soy milk).
On Wednesday of this past week when I saw the doctor, he prescribed Levbid for me. I took it Wed. night and Thurs. morning (12 hrs. apart as prescribed). My stomach seemed better, but I really didn't like the side effects. I also couldn't sleep Wed. night because I felt like my heart was pounding extra hard while on the Levbid. Thurs. I only made it through 30 min. of work and had to go home.
This evening I tried having a turkey sandwhich on french bread along with a whey protein drink made with water. I've cut out all dairy products these past few days and understand that whey protein is derived from dairy products, but I felt that I needed to get protein back in me tonight. I feel less weak, but still a little dizzy.
So do you guys think that the feeling of being weak and dizzy was because I completely changed by diet and was lacking almost any protein?
I am excited to try the peppermint caps and hope they arrive soon as I've ready many good responses about them here in the forum.
I know this is getting quite long, if I've left out any info, just ask me.
Thanks everyone, Robert
