Hi Jo,

I had colonoscopy and gastroscopy, blood test and a pelvic scan and got the "all clear" from all. My Dr then said that it had to be "just" IBS as it was nothing else, no diseases etc, it was a functional disorder as opposed to a structural one.

He put me on antispasmodics to ease my tummy and advised me to keep a food diary to check what foods trigger me. He said that he has equal numbers of patients who are successful with very very high fibre diets as those who are successful on Heather's type of diet.

A month later, and having done Heather's diet for a month (although mostly the Breaking the Cycle part which I realise that I did for too long) and taking the Colofac I was still miserable so I went back to him. That time he gave me a low dosage of antidepressant(Citalopram) and took me off the Colofac. I was better in a matter of weeks after that. I stayed very strictly on the diet from August til Christmas and then I was more stable so got to cheat more and more.

If you have stress in your life try to eliminate it as much as you can or figure out an effective way of dealing with it.

I haven't tried the hypno but I know a lot of people, like Nat, AmandaPanda for example, are great fans.

That's my advice for the moment.

The camera down the throat is absolutely fine, nothing to worry about at all. How are you doing with the wheat, have you started to eat it again yet? How come they are making you eat it again?
