Hi, I do have Eating for IBS ordered, but I am wondering is there a more complete list or table of which fruits and vegetables are soluble fiber and which insoluble? There are a lot more things out there than the basic "break the cycle" list of foods and that is the same list I find everwhere on the net. I tried searching on the message boards but haven't found one.
Fairly newly diagnosed (thought it was an ovarian cyst but on none discovered, received an abdominal ct scan order by my gyn that came back clean. Listening to me, he felt it was IBS and reading about it, I have to agree), but I can see now back in time that there were probalby milder attacks going back to my 20s, mostly what I called "raunchy gut" feeling, but also occassional pain. This year however, seems to be "everything at once". Clearly I am not as bad off as most people for which I am profoundly thankful. I also find that mine is very stress triggered (even when I think I am handling stress fine) and if stress hits during my cycle bad news. I see it way more as a trigger than foods. Other than high fat and artificial things (I have always known I was touchy to artificial sweetners and overly processed foods) between attacks I seem to not be terribly limited. However, quite obviously as I get older my body is saying Whoa Nelly. So, I am trying to adjust. I definitely see eating soluble first as a big help. But to help me figure out things, I need more comprehensive lists than I am finding and while you can easily find "fiber" listings, finding which is which is not so easy. Any help appreciated. Sorry if there is one here somewhere and my searches just didn't work. I'd appreciate a pointer in that case.
IBS-C (C seems to be a bit harder to figure things out, I've decided).
