I found this site last night. I can see this as very beneficial info for the majority with IBS. For me, it was interesting to read the guidelines because much of it I learned on my own over the past 25 years....the hard way. And I would order the book, but problem is, I really can't eat many of the foods on the list because of allergies (concentrated corn protein, i.e. corn syrup, starch; and I have to minimize consumption of legumes: e.g. soy, peanuts, or risk stomach upset at worst, mouth irritations like canker sores at best). I get eczema when I have more than 1 cup of milk, so I don't drink milk. But I have always found that soy milk irritates my gut if I have more than 1/4 cup so I avoid that too. So many of the recipes on here have corn syrup in them....rice krispie treats, etc....i've had a lot of problems with rice krispie cereals and also rice chex. That is because I think I also have a problem with a lot of grain sugars that are used as sweeteners.(barley extract, brown rice syrup and so on) Of course, barley extract is 2/3 corn syrup...it's just not required by law to have that info on the ingredient list. Unfortunately those sweeteners must be cheaper than sugar cane since they are in so many products. For me, there is just no easy way to eat when so many foods are limited.
