I just bought the book Eating for IBS because I was diagnosed with the syndrome a little over a year ago. After reading the book I'm not sure if I have it anymore. My stomach gets very uneasy especially after eating certain foods such as milk, eggs, raw vegetables, and foods with lots of spices. I have to use the restroom several times sometimes it seems normal, sometimes constipated, sometimes I thought I had to go and its just gas, and on the rare occasion its extreme diarrhea. Its the worst in the morning. I will use the restroom 3-4 times before going to work again as soon as I get there, but maybe just a couple more times the rest of the day. The biggest thing in the book that made me skeptical of IBS is that I don't get the excruciating pain that it mentions for sufferors. I was diagnosed after my doctor put me through several tests such as colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and several blood tests, and found nothing. I was told to stick to bland foods an used immodium whenever necessary. My problem has made it difficult for me to go on long drives, walks, or to social events because I'm afraid I'll have to use the restroom when one is not available. Has anyone ever heard of having IBS without the terrible pain or do you think I have a different problem? Sorry about the long post, just looking for answers.
