Hi, after months of severe constipation, bloating and gas and abdominal pain, I've finally been diagnosed (if that's the right word) with IBS. Another symptom which ive had is chronic fatigue - some days i just have no energy to do anything. Ive been reading the message boards but havent seen too many ppl mention that they suffer this too - i wondered if the fatigue is linked in with the IBS or whether its just something else im suffering from? I have sought advice from doctors, specialists and acupuncturists - all giving me different dietary advice, but I had never read that soluble fibre was the key to eating until i found this website. previously high-fibre foods such as wholegrain cereals and breads were recommended. So ive started to follow heather's diet advice, altho my IBS-C has atcually got worse over the last week (not sure whether this is linked to the change in diet or just a coincidence). Plus i have just started Uni, so it is very difficult to follow the diet accurately, altho im going to try to stick with it for a while and see what happens. ive just turned 19 and i wondered if there's any other people my age out there - its impossible to explain to friends exactly what IBS is and why i have to avoid certain foods etc. Anyway, i'll stop jabbering on, but just thought as a new member id say hi . Kat x
