I use them for flavour, but pick them out (i.e. I'll put all kinds of things in my homemade stock/broth and toss them--celery, carrot, onion, garlic, ginger, herbs). I'm fine with powder form (as long as it does not contain sulphites or yeast. I guess I use these aromatic foods for their juices only, but avoid eating them--it's too much of a potential trigger!
