I'm also a "D". I've been with the Boards for about 3-4 years now.
It's good that you know what your triggers are. For me, it's all dairy, calcium supplements, and most antibiotics. However, I don't have GERD. I do not have a problem with onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppermint and spices -- well, except for Heather's peppermint capsules; they give me extreme indigestion. But I can tolerate peppermint tea or peppermint candy.
Some folks can tolerate things others can't. For example, my dear friend here on the Boards can tolerate dairy, while it's a killer for me. Conversely, I can tolerate almost all fruit, salads, and most fresh veggies, while she, like most folks with IBS, wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.
I suggest you start a new thread entitled "GERD Help Please"; you'll get a lot more responses from all those who suffer with GERD.
