I've experienced globus hystericus for a couple days at a time. I believe mine was due to anxiety or something because it did not prevent me from swallowing or eating. In fact, I noticed it less when I ate. If the sensation you have is worse when you swallow, or you have a hard time swallowing, I think it could be something physical rather than psychosomatic.
