One of my first test ct scan of the abdomin said possible chron's inthe small bowel area. Second test upper GIw/small bowel follow through showed no signs of chron's in the small bowel and only a little reflux. Third test endoscopy and colonoscopy showed abosultely nothing even ruling out celiac sprue, I had 8 biopsy taken that day and nothing showed up. I have heard of misdiagnosis in some individuals, maybe he didn't have all the proper test before IBS was ruled? Someone I know has Chron's and she said that even if Chron's was there and was in remission, the invasive procedure would show signs of scaring. My doctor ruled a Bacteria type strain of Diahhrea, but could never catch the strain? Now I 21/2 months later I'm having symptoms of IBS. Thank god I found Heather's book during my test and has really taught me how to eat and deal with this.
Hope your friend and you both can get through this. This board is great and there is alot of good info, that Dr's don't even now about.
Good Luck and may god bless you,
Sherri
