I'd strongly second (third, fourth, fifth, whatever! ) that the diet is a LIFETIME commitment.

However from the sounds of it you're on the "what to eat when you can't eat anything" (all SF) diet right now, right? How long have you been on it? The general idea is to stick with it for 2-3 days then start adding safe foods back in, especially pureed, mashed, cooked... etc. Glad to hear your D has subsided! The bloating defintely does take longer. It's all part of the "stabilization" process as your gut starts to calm down a little. Don't want to scare or discourage you or anything, but it usually takes *at least* a few months of sticking strictly to the diet/lifestyle changes to notice a difference in bloating. Of course, it does vary for everyone (less time for some... more for others...)

Fennel really does work but you have to brew it STRONG and you have to drink LOTS - I'd say 3 cups a day is a minimum. If you don't like the taste, try brewing it with other teas. Though I don't mind the taste, I always brew mine with peppermint and/or ginger and I try to drink this mixture all day long. It's also good with "fruity" herbal teas though too! Other good tips for bloating include making sure you're getting enough exercise and drinking enough water, and also make sure you're not swallowing air when you're drinking or chewing gum!
