I found that going on the pill helped my IBS-C - it moved me a bit towards the D side of things, which was a blessing at that time (early 20s - I was *way* C). Plus, it made my periods lighter, which I really needed! I did not want to get pregnant under any circumstances, so the high reliability of the pill reduced my anxiety.
Now, 17 years later, I want to look into NuvaRing just because I'd like to leave my poor GI tract alone for a bit. Note that NuvaRing is very very low dose, so even if it's more efficient (like the patch) than the pill, I wouldn't be getting a huge dose of hormones. (And I dare say that there will be a new version of the patch soon with a lower dose!)
