Welcome to the IBS boards!! I, too, have IBS-D and a hiatal hernia.
I cannot go NEAR any kind of mint, not even cinnamint!! LOL!!
Anyway, I just drink chamomile tea right now. It really helps my reflux AND my IBS. I also have to take antihistimines while I'm drinking chamomile because it gives me killer headaches. But, with an allergy med, it's all good!
Unfortunately our "medicinal" tea choices are slim having reflux. It sucks, too! Because peppermint works really well on IBS. I was drinking Fennel but it was making my reflux worse, too. And I just read in my book last night that if you suffer from reflux to stay away from Fennel, lemon balm and of course any kind of mint. I didn't know this.....Anyway, I guess it's okay if we drink other types of tea like black cherry, peach, any kind of flavors...I don't know. They don't help with my IBS symptoms so I don't drink them very much but when I do, it's okay.
Hope this helps!
Michelle
