I think dr's are afraid of losing a kick back from prescribed drugs for IBS sufferers! I've been using the acacia for several months now and it has really helped. I still have gas and bloating fairly severe at times and had made the mistake of asking my doc about the peppermint caps. He adamantly advised me to not put those in my gut as it was not "approved." I think whatever helps is worth at least a try. These doctors have no clue what H--- IBS is. My gastro doctor after I was diagnosed with IBS and a severe case of diverticulosis told me I could eat anything while taking the meds he had me taking. Boy was he wrong! My diet has completely changed in the last 9 months. I typically ate salads 2 or 3 times a week...not anymore unless I want to visit the ER. It's frustrating because it seems like all the doctors put little priority on treating IBS as a serious ailment. I have had a rough time adapting but an even rougher time dealing with the excruciating pain, but God has truly helped me endure! It's good being back on a posting..I haven't been able to do anything much besides my job requirements. And to put the icing on the cake, I got food poisoning recently while on vacation and got to spend an entire day in the ER in Sevierville, Tenn! I had to tell them to give me phenigrine..."doctors" dontcha love 'em! Take care all...Lisa P.
