The salt thing isn't directly connected with IBS - I think it's part of a larger constellation that includes IBS, low blood pressure, fibro, sun/heat sensitivity, fatigue, etc. There seem to be lots of people here with several of these things in various combinations, so my hypothesis is that there's some common root.

The doc who told me to eat more salt in the summer said that my low blood pressure wasn't the cause of my fatigue, but that it was related. He said that I had the same thing that the Victorians called "the vapors" and that I really shouldn't try to have an ultra-busy life. In the 12 or so years since, I've found that he's mostly correct: I can do a lot if I can do it at my own speed and not feel obligated to be like the people with 60 hour/week jobs and/or a busy home life.
