Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I posted this a few days ago, but I haven't gotten a response from anyone.

I don't want to seem pushy, but does anyone have any thoughts or advice for me? I'm not sure where to turn for an answer on this.

Is there a connection between IBS and Urinary Tract Infections? When I was young, I would have frequent infections (about once every few months). During high school and college, I was UTI-free, but I noticed that the past few years (starting around the time I got diagnosed with IBS), I've been getting them again, usually about once a year. I thought I read somewhere that there's a connection between the two, but I'm not sure.
And....to build on that question, I notice that when I have IBS-C, I sometimes feel the symptoms of an urinary infection (frequent urge to urinate, etc.), but not the pain. The last time this happened, I got tested (it came back negative), but I still had the frequency, which sometimes got unbearable.

What should I do when that happens? As you can imagine, it's hard to function when you feel like you need to bring your sleeping bag into the bathroom.
