one reason i did not believe that i had IBS was that the doc always mentioned pain as a symptom, and i never had pain (at the time i had painless but severe diahrrea)

i am IBS-A

due to a very poor diet, i have been severely IBS-C most of this past summer.

anyway, i started the IBS diet and all has gone extremely well, the C cleared up and i feel a whole lot better. i am now aware that of my digestion, that is, i can feel things moving along, whereas with the severe C everything had basically stopped.

but now, i do have occasional abdominal pain, often very low in the abdomen (closer to the pelvis) and its a severe cramping pain.

with an occasional twinge higher up that does not really bother me

that cramping pain generally comes within 30 mins of a bm, but the pain is so bad, i catch my breath and wonder if i am going to pass out.

i am wondering if this is normal when getting adjusted to a new diet??

i have been very careful about eating cold things, i drink water warm or heated up, hot tea, etc.
i am using Benefiber daily, and i do eat IF in fruits (mostly peeled apples, pears and bananas)
i have gradually added things like beans, and i mashed the beans up.

confused,
althea
