Heather, I have IBS, and I am also hypoglycemic. My IBS isn't major, but my hypoglcemia is. The two conditions conflict because I am told to avoid simple carbohydrates low in fiber (white rice, white bread, sugar, etc)and to eat a diet high in fresh vegetables (and moderate fruit). On the other hand, if I eat wheat bread, normal quantities of fresh produce (like, a salad, for example), and other hypoglycemia-friendly foods, my IBS symptoms flare up. Basically, I feel like my list of acceptable foods is becoming shorter and shorter. I've already given up red meat, dairy, caffeine, artificial sugars, etc. If I eat rice crackers for a snack, for example, my stomach feels great but my blood sugar freaks out. Any snack/meal suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
