Well on the weight front, I'd really suggest you have a look at www.fitday.com ...you can eat alot of stuff you like if you control your calorie intake compared to your expenditure.
All Heather's guidelines are actually on this site. You just need to trawl through the IBS Diet pages. This diet is NOT restrictive, even when you add in the GERDs restrictions.
Remember as well that although it's calorific, sugar is actually safe for IBS AND GERDS! It's the dairy and fat that so often goes along with it that's the issue for IBS. So the occasional sweet treat is definitely allowed, even when you're controlling your weight. That's another reason to do the calorie counting with something like fitday...you can have a safe chocolate brownie instead of five crackers or whatever.
Keep your spirits up. This diet is GREAT! There's so much yummy stuff we can eat that actually makes us feel better!
