Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Bloating questions for Heather and others

My main complaint with my IBS on a daily basis is severe bloating. I cannot wear anything even remotely tight around my waist, even underwear. I am about a size 6-8, but wear a size 10 most of the time. In the morning I feel pretty good and my clothes are loose, but once I start eating it gets worse. By the end of the day I cannot wait to chang into my loosest pj pants and no undies. I miss being able to wear clothes that fit me and actually looking nice instead of baggy and loose and "frumpy". I wear my maternity clothes or overalls most of the time. Will this diet help me to be able to wear normal clothes again and go out to eat in jeans with a tucked in shirt? Do you have any extra suggestions for this part of the problem? I've already switched from Metamucil to benefiber powder and fibercon tablets and I use beano. That hasn't really made a difference. I am currently at about 3/4 of my fiber intake goal, so I am not "stabilized" yet. I also take acidipholus and drink lots of tea. I ordered your peppermint caps today. Also, I am currently breastfeeding a one year old and, very occasionally, a 4 yr old, so I have to make sure whatever you recommend is safe for them too.

Sorry for the long post - I just really would like to be able to wear my normal underwear again instead of Grannies" as my husband calls them.
