a) I use a few trader joes sauces that are a) low fat, b) no dairy, c) no HFCS, d) no MSG


b) I make a lot of simple sauces from tomato puree/crushed tomatoes/even tomato paste in a pinch... I like diced or whole tomatoes best but DH doesn't so I tend to put them through the blender for him... a handful of spices, some mushrooms or chicken and let it go for a bit... I can start when I put a pot of water on and have it done when the pasta is cooked if I do it right- a bit of water in the skillet and cook the chicken in that with the spices, then add the tomatoes and simmer....

c) I make a lot of sauces out of thickened broth (chicken/vegetable) and mushrooms, carrots, etc.. depending on what we are looking for.
