Okay Augie here we go. Another stressful day at work, but only had to stay over an extra two hours. One of my patients died and the daughter was very upset - to the point someone grabbed a wheelchair, because we knew she was going to collapse. I stayed to comfort her on my own time. I done my good deed for awhile. To top it off I injured my back today - the in-house doctor told me what to do. Hopefully it feels better tomorrow.

I am IBS C, which I feel is better to have than D. I'm not afraid to eat IF foods anymore - I do eat fresh salads, but I find it easier to eat at lunch time than supper. I avoid iceberg lettuce, cauliflower (unless cooked) and broccoli on a bad tummy day. I always eat my meal first than eat the salad. Heather does mention in her book to eat salad after your meal. If I didn't eat IF I wouldn't have regular BM's

I have no problem with whole wheat as long as I eat with other things. I love turkey sandwiches, with lettuce, mayo and a tomato. Combined I do fine. I would never get up in the morning and eat whole wheat on an empty stomach. I eat oatmeal with dried cranberries or raisins and add brown sugar. Pretzels are my only pleasure chips I eat. Any baked chips should be fine (I just don't care for them). Some people are afraid to eat tomato, but fresh are not acidic like cooked tomatoes. Do a board search - Heather has great info. about fresh tomatoes vs. cooked.

I do eat fresh fruit, but not on an empty stomach. I don't peel my fruit anymore. Again, the important thing to remember is how you combine your food. If you are prone to D you have to think about your foods differently. Being IBS C I have to think about how to eat without doubling over in pain from prolong C. For me IF is very important for my diet, but eating it correctly is even more important.

I also have GERD's and peppermint does not work well for me - the tea comes right up. I do avoid beef and pork and over time I don't miss it. Once in awhile I crave a hamburger, but I'm very stable at the time eating it. I've found after awhile I gag after eating steak or any pork. Another thing I avoid is dairy and without being tested for it I believe I have an allergy to dairy. Anyone who suffers from GERD's or IBS should avoid dairy and find a good substitute. For me dairy causes C and without the boards I would have never figured it out.

Medications I take everyday are Prilosec, Paxil, multi. vitamin and Calcium with vitamin D and magnesium. I take Levsin as needed. I stopped taking a fiber supplement a year ago - I found I was more bloated and gassy. I tried 3 different kinds and all 3 had the same effect. I WILL NOT advise anyone else to do this. It works for me.

I hopped I helped you after rambling on. Good luck and always feel free to e-mail me.
