I would definitely suggest you Search on this. You'll need to Search for "imodium" and then again for "immodium", don't use the quotes, Diet Board only, no time limit. You'll get a zillion hits - just start reading back through them. What you'll find is that a lot of us D types use Imodium pretty regularly. You'll even find some people take it daily as a preventative measure until they stabilize.
I resisted taking it for a long time, but it finally became a quality of life issue for me. Heather's diet and SFS got me about 90% of the way, but going out into the big bad world still caused enough stress to sometimes trigger an attack. I found that taking Imodium calmed things down enough to let me do much of what I wanted to do. I also found that as I was able to go out and do things, I "learned" not to stress over it, so I needed the Imodium less.
I talked with my GI about Imodium and, while he doesn't advocate taking 4 or 5 a day every day, he has no problem with my using it regularly - even daily - to make my life more livable. (I think he may actually be a doctor who is smart enough to know that there is little he can do for me.) He also prescribed Donnatol for big, scary trips and high stress situations. That works well and I'm willing to tolerate the side effects - drowsiness, spaciness, dry mouth - in order to expand my world. Again, I find that as I am able to go out and do things using the Donnatol, I am learning not to need it.
As for low energy, all I can suggest is to be sure you're getting enough protein. (I assume - hope - you're following Heather's diet and taking an SFS.)
HTH. Take care.
