I went to the vet today to talk to him about some problems I am having with one of my beagles and he suggested putting her on a small dose of Elavil. He said it's the same medicine they use for people and that it would help her relax and "chill out" as he put it. She is a very timid dog who's afraid of everything! I will tell you that since being on my medication for bipolar, my IBS has been much better. My stomach is not in a knot all the time!
