Well, first of all, I have IBS-C. Normal, for me, is about twice a week. I began taking a new anti-depressant, and once i reached the full dosage amount .. all of a sudden I was going to the bathroom twice a day, EVERY DAY! It was awesome. I felt so great and energetic! Unfortunately, this only lasted for about 2 and half weeks. After that, my constipation was worse than it had ever been. I was going an entire week without going to the bathroom, and then once the weekend came, I was stuck with horrible diarrhea. This pattern went on for about 2 weeks. After than, I found this website and immediately began Heathers diet. I started out with just rice, breads, pastas ... and then slowly introduced other foods into my diet along with peppermint tea. My bowel movements were not changing much, UNTIL i bought "Van's" dairy, wheat, and gluten free waffles, with flaxseed. The first morning i ate these, I went to the bathroom about 5 minutes afterwards. I was so excited. Then the next morning i did this as well, waffles peeled apple and peppermint tea .. it worked again! Then the next day I had a plain bagel, peeled apple, and peppermint tea, with not luck. I was kinda bummed. But then this morning, again, I had the waffles, peeled pear, and peppermint tea ... and it worked! Went to the restroom about 20 minutes afterwards. But then for lunch today, i had another peeled pear and a baked potato with nothing on it. About 15 minutes later, I had awful diarrhea. It felt like my stomach was completely drained (haha sorry for the visual). Could this be b/c of too much flax seed? Or too much tea maybe? Or, possibly, the fact that I had two pears in a span of 4 hours (I haven't had a pear in forever!). I was constipated all of last week, but this weekend, like i explained, I was able to use the restroom normally twice ... i figured that may have gotten things cleared out. Anyway .. I have written too much when really my only questions are this:
Do you think the diarrhea has anything to do with the flax, tea .. or something else? Or is just because maybe I hadn't gotten rid of all the waste in my body from last week.
Also, to be honest, diarrhea is a welcomed alternative in exchange for constipation. At least something is coming out! But, is diarrhea, in any way, bad for you??
Alright. I'm finished. WAKE UP! I'm sure my rambling put you to sleep. Any help would be appreciated from Heather, or someone else who has had the same experience maybe?
Thanks so much!
