My fiancé, Tim, has always had intestinal "issues" to a degree. Most days are great, at least one, usually even two BM's a day. But once in awhile he'll experience C and once in awhile he'll have explosive D. The occurrences have been so sporadic (every couple of months or so) that we have never questioned his health. Last Wednesday evening after eating a dinner of steak, potato salad, and baked beans, he felt the need to go to the bathroom. But, after going some he felt like there was still more in there. He ended up being up numerous times that night and staying home from work the next few days because the urge would hit all of the sudden and he would a BM but he always felt like there was more in there. The first two days were also accompanied by exhaustion and lack of appetite as well as extreme gas pain or stomach aches. He went to the doctor Friday and was told that he probably had compacted stool and to take Milk of Mag. Within an hour of taking it the diarrhea started and he had it every hour for the rest of the day. If he ate anything it would come back out within 5 minutes tops. He took his second and last dose of MOM during the night Friday night and continued with the D. I talked him into seeing another doctor on Saturday who ended up sending him for x-rays b/c he thought he had an obstruction. The x-rays came back clear and showed that he had nothing in his intestines. The D continued throughout Saturday, Sunday, and Monday but started to slow to every 3 to 4 hours by Monday. Tuesday he only went 2 or 3 times. Yesterday (Wed.) he didn't go at all during the day and felt none of the cramping, etc. He was craving a burrito so ate one with steak, pork, rice, black beans, pico, and sour cream as well as a fat packed tortilla. Within 5 minutes of eating it, he had to go to the bathroom and although it wasn't D, he said it was a huge amount. 2 more times within the next 30 minutes he went again and also took Immodium. After that he didn't have any more BM's but he was having gas pains and a stomach ache.

What do you guys think? Does it sound like IBS? Since I have it I think I am biased and don't want to come to that conclusion prematurely. He does have an appt. scheduled with a specialist for July 18th. That's great but I am concerned not only for his health but for the fact that we get married on July 23rd. I want him to feel good. Not only that but he can't afford to loose anymore weight- he's 6'2" and weighed 164 when we had him on the scale Monday. Should I push him to start eating IBS friendly? He loves to eat and loves steak!
