I phased out dairy, but otherwise, I just quit lots of stuff right away. Well, then I tried a few things too again with bad results. In a way, it was hard to drop a lot of the fruits & veggies. However, it was also easy at the same time because things I loved like lettuce, brocolli and oranges were causing me a lot of pain. *sigh* I still miss these foods, and I'm slowly trying some of them again.
Beef, I'm okay with never touching again. Baaad experience.
With dairy, I phased it by using half milk, half soy milk on my cereal. I also tried a lot of different soy milk brands until I found one I liked. If I remember correctly, I phased in the soy milk because I'd read it could cause gas if I just switched straight out. As for fiber, I started with Benefiber Powder twice a day - morning & night. I started feeling like a normal person again after I started taking 2 Fibercon tablets before lunch. I don't know if that was coincidence with my body finally recoverin from a really bad flair or if the third dose of SFS was the ticket for me.
I have not tried the acacia or the peppermint caps. I understand that they do not work for everyone. I have ordered the fennel tea, though, and while I can't get used to the taste, I will drink it now and then because it does work for me.
Anyway, go for it. This diet is wonderful. It gave me my life back. And welcome to the boards.
