hi everyone i was searching the web for vegan recipes when i found a lot of sites that say a raw vegan diet is the best because they say cooking can make food lose the nutrients does anyone know if this is true or does anyone here follow a raw vegan diet?

The "Raw" diet is a fad with some vegan groups. "They" (whoever THEY are) are generally not experts when it comes to those of us with IBS. Listen to Natalie and Dalia...they said it best. Most of us can eat cooked veggies just fine but raw ones would send us into an attack, no matter whether you are a D or C. We often forget that it is the FORM of the insoluble veggie that counts as much as the percentage of soluble to insoluble fiber.

Personally if I get a vegetable medley out with a meal and it is undercooked, which it usually is, I send it back to get cooked more telling them I'm NOT on a raw diet. If you are worried about nutrients, take vitamins. Besides, think about it..if you can't digest the raw stuff anyway, you aren't getting any of the nutrients. Kandee
