hi again- thanks for your reply, too! the "age factor" is NO EXCUSE and definitely even more frustrating, esp when you feel belittled by something completely out of your control. Furthermore, as you mentioned that you have struggled in the past with anorexia, it would be more frustrating for you now that you are trying to help your tummy by "treating it right" with good, nutritious, healing foods, that you are told to "pop an anti-depressant" because this has nothing to do with IBS!! I don't blame you for feeling ignored and invalidated, and I hope you get the answers you are looking for. Maybe try another doctor, get another opinion. I have had to get three opinions. In fact, my first doctor told me that i needed to accept that my situation would be chronic and learn that some of my symptoms were "out of my control." Mind you, my belly was (NO LIE!) the size of an 8th month pregnant woman. I later find out that I have anatomical problems that are exacerbating the swelling so trust your body and your intuition and don't let your DR discourage you!
Good luck, and take care! Kristen
