You can totally become dependent on coffee, same as any other stimulant laxative. Yet another reason it's best to give it up completely and let your guts adjust to doing their thing naturally... the universal triggers like coffee really are bad for *everyone* with IBS!

I'm not taking acacia, but I do know it's within the realm of normal to have a little bit of a "reaction" when you first start taking any SFS. This *should* settle down soon.

There's 1/2 gram fiber, roughly, in a half-teaspoon.

As for how long until it takes effect... well, that's hard to say. From my own experiences with a SFS, I didn't see any noticeable effects until I'd worked up to a full dose - about 9g/day, for me. Everyone's different, so you might notice improvement before then.
