I just recently changed ob/gyn and this lady understands IBS, supplements ect... and how all of that works with our gyn systems. Well, she asked me to list supplements, and brands (I'm taking Source Natural Essential Enzymes) and told me that my break through bleeding (which I thought was a case of cervicitis not clearing up) was probably because of the enzymes - which I have only been taking for about 6 weeks. She said that the enzymes keep breaking things down long after they are taken, and when they reach the liver where the bc pills get sent eventually, they cause the level of hormone to drop.
NOW, this concerns me because I don't want any more children and any surprises popping up, and I also think the digestive enzymes are helping me right now. I asked for a solution, and she recommended the Nuvaring or the patch as alternatives because the hormones are delivered straight to the blood stream and bypass the stomach and liver. I'm getting my cycle this week and plan to try the ring next week. I am hopeful this will help. Still kind of up in the air about it because I'm a good pill taker. BUT I also found out today that changing might also level out my PMS symptoms too, so I will probably give it a shot. Who knew?
