Using the diet as a diagnostic tool?

Hello,

I recently posted an introduction with a few questions. After doing more research I am not convinced that I actually have IBS - or that I don't have something else in addition to IBS (parasites, bacterial infection, etc).

I am preparing to try the IBS diet. If it is helpful in reducing my symptoms, that would indicate that IBS is the problem. If not, it might suggest something else is going on.

My question is, how long do I need to follow the diet to see if it works? A week? A month?

Thanks again for your replies.

Chris
