Glad you're getting the gallbladder taken out, the first pain you describe sounds like it could be from that and the other symptoms could improve if that is the problem and it is corrected. Otherwise, for me an "attack" is when I can feel all my colon muscles just bearing down in cramps/spasms but nothing is MOVING and I'm bloated up and just in general PAIN. This can go on with no relief because, as I said, nothing is moving. For me, that is an "attack", if that helps. For others an attack involves a period of great cramps, pain, and diarrhea - for those of us with C there isn't usually the diarrhea, we're begging to go!  Well, hope this helps clarify a little, definitely get the tests if insurance will cover it. Good luck!
