I had my gb removed as it was "bursting full" of stones - 2 large and about 50 small!! - you did ask!! In many respects I have not looked back since having my gb removed but now with all the new information I am finding, I think that possibly it is the gb that has been the largest part of my problem. Yes, I tend to have an anxious nature but then when you spend half your time in the toilet it makes you anxious! I also gave birth to a 9lb11oz son posterior position by forcepts 32 years ago and following that had an impacted bowel, so really I have had problems most of my adult life. Anyway, think thats enough information on me. In 1994 I had a colonoscopy and the Consultant told me that some patients do suffer from d. following gb removal - that was the first time I had ever been told that but I still thought it was an ib and did not take his suggestion of taking Questran. However I now understand that Calcium Carbonate does the same job as Questran so heres hoping. I have definitely got some improvement with the change in diet (Ihave been on high insoluble fiber for 30 years - now I find out that that has probably made me worse. They do say you are never too old to learn so I am hoping I live my future life in a better physical condition. Those of us with d. I think often wish we were the other way but I think which ever you suffer from you wish it was something else. I would think that if you gb is causing your life to be intolerable then you would need to think seriously about its removal. Judith, Coventry, UK.
