Ok, so for YEARS docs thought we should eat insoluble fiber for IBS. SOLUBLE fibrer wins out as a healthy BASIS for an IBS diet with insoluble added in small portions UNLIKE docs thought for years.
Docs thought for YEARS green mucous=infection=sinusitis.
They were going to do SURGERY on my sinuses AND I have been given antibiotics non-stop for about 2 years now (can you imagine what that did for my IBS?!) My ENT in FLORIDA (I live in AZ now) said I should see a Neurologist because antibiotics would takec are of an infection. And my CT Scan didn't look bad enough for surgery.
Know what my mucous was? MIGRAINES! I have chronic AND episodic MIGRAINES and have had them since childhood!
I would like to argue that had I been properly treated with the proper diagnosis of migraines (and fibromyalgia) as a child...I would potentialy have avoided acquiring IBS as I would not have taken so many antibiotics for YEARS (since the age of TWO!)
Heather and Will and Linz and Laura Sue and JenX and Tissy, thank you for encouraging me to keep searching for a diagnosis. I was NEVER crazy stupid or lazy! I was smart and persistent! Oh, and staying away from dairy and high fructose corn syrup, nitrites, MSG, and many other things on the IBS Safe Diet helps my migraines and fibro, too! THANKS!
Below is my story of symptoms and ages of when they occured. Hope this helps someone!
Love,
Ruchie
Age 2 ear infections.
Age 4 onset of IBS.
Age 4 skipped a grade.
Age 8 tested for gifted and parents were told I had a learning disability. they got me checked and were told I had a viual/spatial disability.

(All ages, I had sinusitis and bronchitus and I was on antibioptics at least twice a year all my life...usually more often that that!)

Throughout younger years (not sure when to when), the IBS pain was so bad I would I would throw up!
Age 14 chronic headaches began.
Age 17 diagnosed with ADD.
1st year college, got sick 10 times with sinusitis/bronchitus.
3rd year college, mono.
4th year college, dx with SEVEN learning disabilities.
1st year marriage, I was a teacher, got strep throat FIVE times and sinusitis a bunch of times.
2nd year marriage chronic sinusitis whole year, couldn't work.
3rd year of marriage, was told never had sinusitis it was MIGRAINES and FIBROMYALGIA! (this is Oct. and yesterday of this year).
This is my story. Could it have been the antibiotics for the ear infections as a kid? Anuyone know?
In any case...this is my story.
