I read about using hummus on this website and started using it a few months ago. I buy the 2 lb tub at Costco and go thru one of them about every 10 days! I have gradually worked up to 2 heaping Tbsp mixed with 1/2 cup brown rice EVERY day and I've discovered that this really helps, in addition to the acacia powder and lots of H2O.

Be sure to buy a probiotic that has multiple different strains of "good bacteria" organisms in it and that is encapsulated, or somehow protected, so that it can bypass the stomach's acidity. Otherwise supposedly you'll only be getting a much smaller dose of probiotic into your small intestines than the dose written on the bottle, due to the stomach's acidity destroying alot of the organisms. Also, be sure to take it on an empty stomach at least an hour before or 2 hours after eating b/c eating turns on the stomach's acid making cells. I take mine in the middle of the night when I get up to pee!

This is the latest science that I've read about probiotics but it's still controversial. It's also controversial whether they even help C-IBS, but alot of posts on this board have been from people with C who are sure that they are helping them so I think it's worth a try for you.
