I was just like you at one time and thought to heck with it, I will just quit all the vitamins and that is what I did. I then just started trying different things so I could see for myself if they helped me. I take the citrate with magnesium and I think the brand is Citrate Plus. I buy it all Wal-Mart or I buy the generic at Walgreens. I take 2 a day at different times of the day. I will have to look on my Omega 3 and see what brand. I want to say Nature's something. This is basically how one of my days goes: 1. AM - Before I eat, I take the Jarro-Dophilus (preobotic sp?). I take a women's multi-vitamin, one omega 3, 2 colace (My GI says that colace is not addictive and that I will need to probably take it the rest of my life) and 1 tablespoon of acacia. (It is important that you DO NOT take the calcium supplement with the multi-vitamin because iron keeps your body from absorbing the calcium properly so you won't see the benefit.) 2. NOON - 1 calcium, 1 omega 3 and 1 tablespoon of acacia. 3. AFTERNOON OR EVENING - 1 calcium, 1 omega 3, 2 colace and 1 tablesppon of acacia. Now I realize that sounds like a bunch of stuff but all of these things have been proven to help IBS-C. It is so important to break up these meds into a full day to see any benefit. I also drink the full recommended dose of water per day (SO important to us Cers). I will come back tomorrow and tell you the omega 3 brand. Also, the omega contains fish oil which helps depression (which most of us IBSers have to some extent). I have major depression and I have noticed a change in my depression, stress and PMS. So give this stuff a shot for about a month and see what you find!! I will always take these vitamins because I reap benefits for my IBS and other issues like depression. For another example, magnesium helps a bunch with PMS. So good luck!! Please keep me posted, I would love to hear how you do on these!
