Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Need help with IBS during pregnancy

Hi, I'm new to this website and I need any help that you can offer. I am 24 weeks pregnant and was just discharged from the hospital this afternoon being told there is nothing they do for me. I have had IBS for about 5 years but it had really calmed down and was non-exsistent for the last couple. I hadn't even had any problems with it during my pregnancy. Then at 20 weeks, I developed Cholestasis of pregnancy and they had to prescribe Ursodiol for me. My intense itching was getting worse, so the doctor advised me to double my dose this past Tuesday. Well, by Wednesday night, I was completely impacted and experiencing terrible IBS symptoms. They claimed it was too high a dose for a woman my size, but it triggered my IBS. I have never had constipation with my IBS. I ended up being taken to the hospital and admitted on Thursday morning in the OB High Risk Dept. I was on IV and Demerol all day Thursday and yesterday. They had me try some solid foods last night and this morning and sure enough I had 4 more attacks this morning. They came in this afternoon and said they were discharging me because there is nothing they can do. We contacted my MD, who treated my IBS originally, and they said there is nothing they can do either. Do you know of any medicines that pregnant women can take that are safe? I used to take Hyoscyamine, but they say it's not safe for the baby. I have been home for 5 hours and have spent 2 of them on the floor in the bathroom. I know tonight will be another terrible night and I don't know what to do. I can't believe there is nothing anyone can do to help me... Thanks.
