I owe 8 thousand pounds to the student loan company in the UK and also did when I went travelling. I know that is not the same kind of debt as real debt (because you only have to start paying back once you earn) however, you can really do a round the world trip for about 8 thousand dollars for many many months as long as you mainly remain in cheaper countries. And when I say cheap, I mean CHEAP!!!
This is my philosophy - when you are younger you have the energy, the zest, the relative lack of responsibilities (babies and mortgage etc)....and you CAN make the time. You can use the future to pay it back ie get more into debt (I mean, what is 8 thousand dollars really? Compared to the amount that people put down for their mortgages??? and look at the experience!!) and pay if off when life becomes more sensible!
Anyway...enough of me brainwashing...but esp since you feel stable enough to travel...I mean...wow, I wish I could say that right now!! But I had my time, and you should go and feel ALIVE!!!!
now that really is enough brainwashing!!
