My doctor prescribed Lexapro for me (depression). So, I'm glad to be able to try this. I've been so moody lately & have had a hard time going back to sleep if I wake up during the night. I took this for a short time for post-partum depression about 1 1/2 yrs ago.
Anyway, I also asked about this diet & about medications for IBS-C. She said no studies have shown that this diet helps, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. As for the C, she said she prescribes either Miralax, Zelnorm, or Lactulose. That's it.
I also asked about Calcium. She said Calcium constipates some people, but not others. She recommended taking Calcium with vitamin D. She didn't say anything about taking Magnesium. In fact, she said she'd stay away from other vitamin supplements because studies are starting to show that it's better not to take them &, rather, to get your nutrients from food.
So just wanted you to know that there's no new medications or great insite on helping our IBS-C. Atleast we know we're doing all we can do!
