Hi Heather can you please tell me whether a metric teaspoon in the US is 5 grams? In Australia our metric teaspoons are much bigger then a normal teaspoon so am a little confused as to how much soluble fibre I should be starting with a day. I have IBS C but was attack free for a couple of months before just last week when I started taking soluble fibre. I was taking 1 teaspoon morning and night (10 grams) but I figured this was too much as I had an attack after the first day. I dropped back to two lots of 2.5 grams but still no hooray in the bathroom so have stopped taking it altogether now in hope of my bowels returning to normal. I drink a couple of cups of fennel and green tea a day so could this be dehydrating me and causing the constipation to be worse then normal? I normally drink 2 litres of water.

If anyone has any tips for taking soluble fibre can you please pass them on? Its disconcerting to think I was better off before taking it.....
