Hiya Shells,
I'm from the UK too...Notice you're in the NW region? Whereabouts? I'm in Lancs...Living in Blackpool (Shhh...it's a bit of an embarrassment!! I'm not REALLY from B'pool though!), but may soon be moving either to Lytham or Poulton...and I go to uni in Preston.
I've been to 5 GPs, even to the hospital, and not a single one of them recommended soluble fibre...to them, roughage is roughage, and there's nothing to distinguish one type of fibre from another...
Having said that, General Practitioners aren't really specialists in any field, so I've learnt not to pay too much attention to what they say...This isn't the first time they've made a mistake (I'd been wrongly diagnosed far too many times!!), and it certainly won't be the last...
I'll go check out the supplement you mentioned...I'm already on acacia..Just started taking it actually, so it's early days yet...Still, finding out more about other alternatives can't make things any worse than they already are!!...er...I hope!
Do you know if fibre in capsule form would be any help at all?
Wishing all happy colons, Charme
